SYNTAX

 

Definition (formal)

Pronouns are words that stand in place of a noun (e.g., he, she, it, they).

Example

For example, the following the Persuasive Essay Example contains an incorrect pronoun to stand for the word ‘debate’ in the second part of the sentence. ‘They’ should be ‘it’.

The nature versus nurture debate is one that is significant because they affects teachers' perceptions of students' abilities.
