Staying up to date: Alerting & current awareness services: News

This guide provides information about how to set up alerts to be notified of new information in your field across resources such as journals, books, websites, conferences, research data and funding.

News sites

Most news sites provide RSS feeds or email alerts about new items. Here's a few places to get started.

Desktop News Tickers

A news ticker is a primarily horizontal, text-based display that typically appears at the bottom of a screen, for example on TV news. A sample of download links for these products is listed below.

News Apps

Many news services also provide apps for Apple and Android mobile devices. Many are free to download but may require a subscription  or in app purchases to access news content.
