Pages and EndNote - Issues

There are some issues with using Pages and EndNote.

If you downloaded Pages '09 from the Mac App Store and want to insert citations from EndNote you will need to install the Pages EndNote Plug-in. You can obtain the Plug-in from Apple.

Some known issues include:

  • You have modified a reference in your EndNote library, and want to update the citation in the Pages 09 document. To do this, you will need to remove the citation from the pages document and reinsert the citation.
  • If you transfer a Pages file to an iPad, the bibliography will transfer, but it will be converted to plain text. If you return the document to your Mac, any new references would be added to a new bibliography. Because of this, we do not recommend using EndNote formatted Pages documents on the iPad at this time.
  • Manage Citations does not show citations in the order they are in the document, because the list is sorted by author name. To remove a citation from one specific place in the document you would need to remove all instances of a reference, and then reinsert where you need it to go.
