Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family History: Genealogy

This guide has been written to assist Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and South Sea Islander family historians locate sources available to them at James Cook University, as well as some suggestions for resources located elsewhere.

Genealogy resources

The library holds a number of genealogical handbooks among other general resources about creating or researching family history, some are listed below.  To look for resources in the library's collection type the word "genealogy".  You will get different results from using different combinations, for example:

NB: Searching for "family history" will provide information on the history of families as a sociological phenomenon, not genealogical information.
