4. SELECT THE BEST REPRESENTATIVE MATERIAL
This is more than just mechanical work. Use your own judgment as you review the materials you have selected for your preliminary list. Think about your topic, the scope of your research and what resources would best suit your focus. Select books, articles and media that are scholarly, balanced, current, accurate, and, when examined together, provide good coverage of your topic and answer your question.
The quality and usefulness of the bibliography depends on your selection of resources, so make sure you define your scope and question carefully. This will help you decide what resources to include and exclude from your bibliography.
