Saving JCU Library Catalogue (Tropicat) references to EndNote

Conduct your search in One Search and limit the results to "Items in the library catalog".

Click on the icon on the right to save references into your "Saved items" folder.

Click into the Saved Items folder and click on the EndNote export tab.

The following dialog box will appear:

Click "OK" and the items will be downloaded into the open EndNote Library.

Saving records from National Library of Australia (Trove)

To save records from the National Library of Australia (Trove), click into the reference to get the "Cite this" button.  Click on it.

The following screen opens:

Click Download EndNote XML.  Save the file.  go to EndNote and select File -> Import. Select the file from where you downloaded it. Select "EndNote generated XML as the import option.  Import.

Records imported from Trove will include a variety of Reference Types for example books, pictures, newspaper articles, maps and music. Some details may need to be edited.

Connecting to library catalogues

To directly search any library catalogue, you will need to get the connection file for that library catalogue from the EndNote site, if the file was not included with the standard installation of EndNote:

Adding EndNote files to your computer

In order to download a file to use in EndNote, you must open the file in the EndNote program and allow EndNote to save it to the directory it creates for that file.  If you allow EndNote to do this, the files you download:  Filters, Connections or Styles, will appear in the appropriate Manager.
