Info Skills Road Trip: 3 - Searching: Why can't I just Google?

Why can't I just Google?

Lisa Bu: How books can open your mind

Getting started

There are a number of steps involved in finding resources for your assignment. It is far different from just searching Google for school assignments or cheap airfares. You need different types of resources, and you need them to be good quality. A good rule of thumb is to use at least 3 different types of resources: books, journal articles and web sites. Just remember:

"Journal articles are kings, books are presidents and web pages are prime ministers, but they could be con men."

When you get to Source City you'll know what I mean.

So let's get started by watching the "Why Can't I Just Google" video.

What else?

Although we will concentrate on searching using One Search, there are many other search tools/databases available for you at JCU.  Don't forget to check out the relevant LibGuides for you course or subject. These will list the best search tools for your course.
