JCU Online library resources

Library information for students studying post-graduate online courses with JCU Online

Your JCU Online Library

Your JCU Online Library means that you can access a wide range of library resources 24x7 from the library website. This includes access to our search tools and our vast on-line collections of journals and eBooks.

TipYou will be asked to authenticate with your JCU user ID (jcxxxxxx) and password to access these resources. As a JCUOnline student you have the same access to resources as any on campus student, so be sure to ask for help if you are unable to open an item to read.

Here are the essentials:

One Search

One Search is a way of searching all the library's resources - books and ebooks, journals and journal articles, multimedia and more. You can find the One Search search box on the home page of the library website. You can jump right in and start searching or consult our One Search guide for tips on basic, advanced, browse and journal searching, and saving results.

eBooks

Often your readings will come from an eBook, and many items in our library collection are eBooks.  Once you have opened a link that takes you to an eBook, you will have the option to read on the screen, download the chapter, or download the entire book for a loan to your computer or mobile device.

If you are not already logged in with your User ID (JC******) and password you will be prompted to do so.  If you want further information about downloading and using eBooks, try the guide linked below.

Your lecturer will also link to other readings for you from our collections. These might be links to journal articles, or scanned chapters of books. If you are already logged in to the e-library gateway you will immediately see the item, otherwise you will be prompted for your UserID and password.

Academic Skills

If your subject outline has not specified one specific referencing style to use, you can use any on the Referencing guide linked above. Whatever style you use, be sure to follow the style consistently. APA style is the most widely used style at JCU, so you may find it the simplest choice if you are unsure.

Other services for JCU Online students
