Makerspace: 360° Camera

Getting started with the Insta360 One X camera

Assemble

  • Insert battery (door on side)
  • Charge battery by connecting supplied cable (USB wall plug not supplied)  - red lights on camera come on.
  • Insert micro SD memory card in slot in bottom (text on front of card on same side as text on front of camera).

Turn on

  • Press and hold small bottom button until blue light comes on
  • Camera will always start in Photo mode
  • Display shows resolution of photos i.e. 18MP and number of photos you can fit on memory card i.e. 30221

If 'Standby' appears in display window, the phone has gone to sleep, press any button to exit standby mode.

Turn on timer

  • Press small bottom button until cog icon appears (Settings)
  • Press large top button to go into Settings
  • Press small bottom button to scroll down to Timer
  • Press large top button to select time i.e. 10s
  • Press small bottom button to scroll down to Done
  • Press large top button to exit Settings

Take photo

  • Press small bottom button to change to photo mode.
  • In Photo mode, press large top button to take a photo.

Take video

  • Press small bottom button to change to video mode.
  • In video mode, press large top Button 1 to start recording.

  • Lightning to Micro-USB cable 
  • Micro-USB to Micro-USB cable
  • 128gb SanDisk MicroSD card adapter
  • Bullet Time accessory (swing line + 1/4' screw)

Additional Equipment for Dive Case (Townsville Only)

  • Waterproof dive case
  • Grey protective drawstring bag
  • Black microfibre cleaning cloth
  • Ant-fog strips
  • Mount adapters x 3

Availability

  • Search for Insta360 in One Search (Library catalogue). 
  • Click on the item Insta360 One X action camera
  • Click on Townsville or Cairns
  • Results will show how many devices are available to be borrowed

Place Hold

  • If you wish to place a hold on an Insta360 One X camera, click "Log in" under the Get It section
  • Log in using your JC number and JCU password 
  • Click Place Hold
  • Use the drop down bar to select your location 
  • Click Send Request
  • You will be notified by email when the camera is ready to be collected. You will need to see staff in the library to collect this item. 

Borrowing

  • Insta360 One X cameras are available for 3 day loan 
  • They are unable to be renewed online. You will need to return them to staff in the library (not via the after-hours chutes) and ask to re-borrow the item.

Getting started with the Insta360 Camera

Support

  • Press and hold small bottom button to turn on camera
  • Camera will always start in Photo mode
  • Press small bottom button a few times to get to Settings (Cog icon)
  • Press large top button to go into Settings
  • Press  large top button to go to information section (About)
  • Press small bottom button to scroll down to USB:iOS 

Connect the camera to your computer with a USB cable, press and hold the power button to turn it on.  Wait for the camera to change to "U Disk" mode.  The computer should now read the camera's SD card directly
