Robert Forrest Preston
b.1942, UK.

DipAD (Hons) Lond., ATD Sussex, MCA JCU, PhD JCU

Bob Preston migrated from the UK to Australia in 1973 and it wasn’t long before he moved to North Queensland, Innisfail and later Townsville where he has remained, though he has travelled widely over this time. Bob’s practice in drawing, painting and mosaics, has been enhanced by his early studies as a draughtsman in the UK, and later of calligraphy and illumination. His body of work, which expresses his interest in surrealism and mysticism, dates from the 1960s to the present. Bob is now an Adjunct of JCU, where he lectured in creative arts for many years.

In recent years, Bob had developed a style which has evolved as a result of his interactions with the local environment.  He continues to exhibit both nationally and internationally and to teach.
