JCU Online students that have no contact hours at a campus may find this one page guide to library services for online only students useful throughout their studies.
The InfoSkills Toolkit is a self-paced training tool to help you understand what is needed to unpack your assignment question, identify keywords for your research, find good quality sources and reference them appropriately.
There are four modules, and you can work through them in order, or jump straight to the part you need. Come back to the guide whenever you need a refresher on basic searching skills.
Attention users of CINAHL/SportDiscus/MLA-Bibliography/LISTA/EBSCO eBooks
The EBSCOhost user interface is changing. This will be a new look-and-feel for the search interface users have been used to. The key-date for this change will be Wednesday 23 July 2025.
The EBSCO Platform hosts databases affected:
Please see below for important information about accessing your saved searches on the new platform. This is important for those researchers who may be conducting systematic reviews or other in-depth research activities that require the use of folders to maintain search strategies/results.
Getting Ready for the New EBSCO User Interface
If you have content stored in your EBSCO My Custom folders ie. The old platform, now is a great time to copy your articles, eBooks, images, videos, and saved searches to the My Folder section of your classic EBSCO folder. This will ensure that your content seamlessly syncs with My Dashboard on the new EBSCO user interface. Around 1% of EBSCO users ever used the My Custom folders, so there is a good chance you may not need to do anything. If you do need to move items to the My Folder section from the My Custom section, please use this video and checklist to help you.
If you only ever used the My Folder section, your items will be automatically pushed to the new system. Note that only: articles, Images, Videos, and Ebooks will come across. Your saved search strings will also be moved across to the new platform.
Search alerts and publication alerts will NOT move across. These alerts will need to be re-created in the new system, so take note of any alerts you have created.
To help you keep all your data safe, an option to download your custom folder content to Excel (.csv) is available now —so you won’t lose any valuable information.
See: How can I download the data from MyEBSCO custom folders in the classic EBSCO interfaces?
Do you have any search or journal alerts set up? If so, you'll need to recreate them in the new interface using these simple steps:
Lastly, don’t forget to delete any old alerts from classic to prevent duplicates.
How to access your saved searches on the new User Interface?
To access your searches in the new EBSCO platform, ensure you are logged-in and click on Saved under My Dashboard.
When can I try the new User Interface?
You can try the new user interface now! Simply log-in to any of the EBSCO databases listed above and look for the Access new EBSCOhost link on the top right. In both instances, ensure you sign-in so that your searches move across seamlessly. We will permanently move to the new platform in July, after this point you will not be able to migrate searches or alerts from the old platform.
