Scholarship of Learning and Teaching: Planning Your Project

Which questions?

Key design considerations

When designing and planning your project, consider the following questions:

  • What is your research question(s)?
  • Who are the stakeholders?
  • Have you conducted a literature review.? What methods were used? How? Can you adapt?
  • What funding do you have to conduct the project? Actual funds, or in kind?
  • What methodology and methods are you going to use? How are they different? Why are they important in this context?
  • Are you going to design tools to gather data? (watch surveys etc. for validity and reliability)
  • Who are your intended participants…How? When? Refer to SoTL ethics guidance - coercion/power imbalances etc.
