JCU Library Experience Guide: Mandatory Training

Mandatory Training

Complete mandatory training in your first week of employment with JCU.

Training can be completed online or booked through My HR Online. 

Once you have completed your training, email your Team Leader your completed modules and dates.

Mandatory Training

The JCU WHS Induction is mandatory.  The primary aim of the induction is to provide participants with an important overview of health and safety policies, procedures and safe work practices.  The JCU WHS Online Induction is divided into topics with questions at the end that are designed to confirm understanding of the information provided.

The Fire Evacuation Program (FEP) is an interactive online training, assessment and evacuation planning program which meets the requirements of the Queensland Fire Regulations and Australian Standards. You are required to complete the FEP for each building that you work in. You are also required to complete the FEP when you are relocated to work in another building.

All staff are required to undertake general and site/work specific WHS Induction. Managers are responsible for ensuring that new staff receive this induction on their first day at work.  Both the manger and new staff member must sign the induction checklist and the supervisor must keep a copy for audit purposes.

All workers and postgraduate students are required to undertake RiskWare System Use - Incident & Hazard Reporting, Logging a Risk Assessment.

JCU Respect is an online module addressing sexual harassment and sexual assault that all students and staff are required to complete.  The module provides introductory content on recognising a problem (including basic consent/bystander behaviours), responding to disclosures by others, referring to appropriate support services, and reporting to the University and other agencies.

All students and staff are automatically enrolled into the module, and will find it listed under the subjects tab after logging into LearnJCU.

The module includes discussion of sexual harassment and sexual assault.  If you feel unable to complete the module for personal reasons you can contact a Sexual Misconduct Officer to arrange a confidential exemption.
