JCU Library Experience Procedures

IT & Instruction cards

  • Purpose: 
    • To be able to assist patrons to connect to the the printer and/ Wireless network
  • ALMA roles

    • All frontline staff

  1. If you do not see the following printer queues:
    • Secure-Black
    • Secure-Colour
  2. Go to the desktop.
  3. Double Click on Add Printers (once only)

  1. Wait a few moments before going back to your file, to allow the drivers to install.
  2. You should now see the following queues in your printer list. Please note it may be at the bottom of the list.

  1. Continue to print as per normal.

From Mozilla Firefox

  1. Save the document to the desktop.
  2. Right click and open the document with Mozilla Firefox
  3. You should be able to print the document now to either
    • Secure-black
    • Secure-colour

From Adobe Acrobat DC Pro

  1. Search for Adobe Creative Cloud on your computer
  2. Log in using your:
    • JCU email (firstname.lastname@my.jcu.edu.au)
    • JCU password
  3. Search for Adobe Acrobat DC pro
  4. Download the application (this might take a couple of moments)
  5. Open your document
  6. You should be able to print the document now to either
    • Secure-black
    • Secure-colour

To set up MFA at JCU:

  1. Install:
  2. When you login to a JCU system (once MFA-enabled) you will be prompted to register your mobile phone/hardware device for MFA.
  3. Follow the steps on the screen and when your Recovery Codes are displayed, remember to save them to somewhere secure.

Consider these Recovery Codes as your one-time passwords to log in if you do not have your mobile phone on you. Keep them safe and secure.

Chrome                            

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More More.
  3. Click More tools --> Clear browsing data.
  4. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
  5. Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
  6. Click Clear data.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.
  2. Select the Privacy & Security panel.
  3. In the Cookies and Site Data section, click Clear Data….
  4. Remove the check mark in front of Cookies and Site Data.
  5. For more information about managing site data, see Manage local site storage settings.
  6. With Cached Web Content check marked, click the Clear button.
  7. Close the about: preferences page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.
  8. Tip: Here's another way to clear the Firefox cache:
  9. Click the menu button Fx89menuButton to open the menu panel.
  10. Click History and select Clear Recent History….
  11. Next to Time range to clear, choose Everything from the drop-down menu, select Cache in the items list, make sure other items you want to keep are not selected and then click the OK button.

Safari

  1. Open Safari
  2. In the menu bar (top left of your screen) click History
  3. At the bottom of the menu, choose Clear History…
    • You can also choose Safari > Clear History…
  4. Use the drop-down menu to pick what timeframe you want to clear history and cookies from Safari.
  5. One last time, click Clear History
  6. Along with clearing your Safari history, this also clears your cookies and cache.
    • Keep in mind that means you may be logged out of websites, etc.
  7. Now look at the bottom of the menu and click “Clear History…”

Microsoft Edge

 

  1. To fully clear your history, cache, and cookies, click the drop-down and select “all history.” 
  2. Open Microsoft Edge, select Menu (3 dots icon on top right corner of the browser) > Settings > Privacy & services.
  3. Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear.
  4. Select "Cached images and files" and "Cookies and other site data" check box and then select Clear.
