JCU Library Experience Procedures

Equipment Loans

  • Purpose: 
    • Borrowing guidelines for equipment loans for JCU Students and Staff

Equipment loaning procedure

  • Loan the item using the Loan procedure
  • To change the date click on the Ellipse […]
  • click on Change Due Date
  • Select that day’s date using the calendar icon
  • Type in the time four hours ahead in 24hr time
    • 4pm = 16:00
    • 10pm = 22:00
    • 10:30am = 10:30
  • Click Change Due Date to confirm the date change.
  • If the due date is past closing, do not extend past the closing time.
  • Communicate to the patron that it is due back on the same day and at what time.

Non-Loanable Equipment

Library Experience Guidelines:

  • One game per person
  • 4-hour maximum loan period
  • Must be returned 15 minutes prior to closing (this is when loans computers are shut down).
  • Holds cannot be placed on these items
  • Fines may apply for overdue items
  • Loans and returns need to be processed by Library Experience/Library Help staff

Procedure

  • Check client does not already have a game on loan
  • Inform the client of 4-hour loan period
  • Inform client that item must be returned directly to Library staff not placed in the returns chute

Replacement fees:

  • A lost or damaged game will require a lost payment of RRP + $25 processing fee. This will be charged to student/staff account and paid as per normal process for payment of Fines.

  • 4-hour maximum loan period – these items CANNOT be loaned overnight or outside Library Opening Hours
  • Mats must be returned 15 minutes prior to closing (this is when loans computers are shut down)
  • Holds cannot be placed on these items
  • Loans and returns need to be processed by Library Experience/Library Help staff

Procedure

  • Check client does not already have a mat on loan
  • Inform the client of 4-hour loan period
  • Inform client that item must be returned directly to Library staff not placed in the returns chute in a clean condition

Replacement fees:

  • Each mat is worth $85
  • A lost or damaged mat will require a lost payment of $85. This will be charged to student/staff account and paid as per normal process for payment of Fines.

Library Experience Guidelines:

  • A guide to these devices can be found on Confluence
  • One VR headset and one 360 camera limit per person
  • 3-day maximum loan period
  • Items must be returned 15 minutes prior to closing (this is when loans computers are shut down).
  • Holds cannot be placed on these items
  • Fees apply for overdue devices
  • Loans and returns need to be processed by Library Experience/Library Help staff

Procedure

Check client does not already have one of each item on loan

Inform the client of 3-week loan period

Inform client that item must be returned directly to Library staff not placed in the returns chute

 


Replacement fees:

Each VR headset is worth TBA

Each 360 camera is worth TBA

A lost or damaged game will require a lost payment of TBA + $25 processing fee. This will be charged to student/staff account and paid as per normal process for payment of Fines.

Resetting the VR Device if someone is already logged in.

  • Turn off your Oculus Go.
  • Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
  • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.

Library Experience Guidelines:

  • One whiteboard kit per person
  • Must be returned 15 minutes prior to closing (this is when loans computers are shut down).
  • Holds cannot be placed on these items
  • Fines apply for overdue items
  • Loans and returns need to be processed by Library Experience/Library Help staff

Procedure

  • Check client does not already have a Whiteboard kit on loan
  • Inform the client of 4-hour loan period
  • Inform client that item must be returned directly to Library staff not placed in the returns chute
  • Double check that when issuing an A3 Whiteboard kit that the correct whiteboard is loaned out with the correct kit. (i.e. Set 1 whiteboard markers kit is loaned out with the Set 1 whiteboard)

Replacement fees:

  • Each set is worth $15
  • This will be charged to student/staff account and paid as per normal process for payment of Fines.
