Researcher Profiles, Identifiers and Engagement

This guide provides information about how to create, use and promote your online research presence.

Web of Science

A Web of Science Researcher Profile can be used to collate many of your academic activities in one place:

  • Track publications and citations (download a citation report)
  • Showcase journal editorial and/or peer-review work
  • Showcase conferences, grants, and awards

If you have an existing Clarivate account ie. Web of Science or Endnote, you do not need to create a new account, simply sign in with your existing login. If you do not have an existing account, you will need to create one.

Getting started with Web of Science Researcher Profile

Login to Web of Science to find and claim your records, either by the system recognising the email you published with or by your own manual selection.

Check to see if you have author record/s in Web of Science. Author records represent likely sets of papers for an individual, do not confuse these with the Web of Science researcher profile.

You may have more than one author record in Web of Science - these records are algorithmically assigned a Web of Science Researcher ID which consists of 11 alphanumeric digits. When you verify your Web of Science profile, you will be assigned a single Web of Science ResearcherID related to your Web of Science Researcher Profile.

What should I include in my Web of Science profile?

Once you login to Web of Science you can edit and manage your profile via the navigation on the left. Remember to include:

  • Photo
  • Location
  • Add email addresses you've used when publishing, this will allow Web of Science to look for matching articles for you
  • Enable syncing with ORCID

What should I do with my Web of Science Profile?

Once you have updated your Web of Science Researcher Profile, verified your information, and added your publications, you can use your unique Web of Science Researcher ID to link to:
