When you multiply by factors of 10 (i.e., 10, 100, 1000, etc), the answer can be obtained by moving the decimal point to the RIGHT by the same number of positions as there are zeros in the multiplier
At school you may have been introduced to “skippy” or “peter” to help you with these calculations…
Similarly, when you divide by factors of 10 (i.e., 10, 100, 1000, etc), the answer can be obtained by moving the decimal point to the LEFT by the same number of positions as there are zeros in the divisor.
