There are many ways to solve these equations, but the easiest is to use the formula:
C1 = first concentration
V1 = first volume
C2 = second concentration
V2 = second volume
Quite often in hospitals and in the industry, large quantities of commonly-used high-concentration solutions are kept. These are termed “stock solutions”. Rarely will they be ordered in the strength that is kept in the pharmacy, so you as the pharmacist will need to dilute them appropriately to provide a solution of the correct strength.
