Ronald John McBurnie
b. 7 July 1957, Brisbane.

Printmaker, painter, and JCU creative arts lecturer Ron McBurnie’s prolific artistic career began in Brisbane after completing a three-year course in painting and printmaking in 1978. In 1982 he started as a full-time visual arts lecturer at Townsville TAFE and, from 1986, lectured in creative arts at JCU. He is also experienced in publishing, having been co-director of Lyrebird Press and current director of Monsoon Publishing. With his works represented in the National Gallery, State Galleries, and numerous public, private and corporate collections, Ron enjoys a national reputation in the fields of printmaking and book arts. Over almost four decades, Ron has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, been the recipient of dozens of awards, grants and commissions, published several artist’s books, and accepted many invitations for guest speaker, guest lecturer, summer schools, and artist in residence.
