How to get the most out of your subject readings at JCU

Requesting digitisations

There are three steps to digitisation:

  1. Adding the item to your reading list
  2. Adding the chapter or article details to the item
  3. Requesting the digitisation

Adding the item to your reading list:

  1. Go to the Reading list and click Add Resource
  2. Search for the title of the bookmark or book title in the search bar. Results will show for My Bookmarks and Books Search. Click Show more if the result you want is not displayed.
  3. A list of results including bookmarks and books will display underneath
  4. Click on a book result to see Library holdings and select editions:undefined
  5. Select the + to add the item to your list.

Adding the chapter details:

  1. Choose Edit from the item menu

  2. Go to Add field > Select Has Part (chapter, article etc) > click Add
  3. A new tab will be created for the chapter details:

  4. Enter the required details
    • Resource type = chapter (for book chapters)
    • Title of chapter
    • Add fields for the page numbers and authors of the chapter (for edited books)
    • Click Save

Requesting the digitisation

  1. Choose Request Digitisation from the item menu
  2. Check the details are correct in the pop up window.

  3. Click Next
  4. Enter the date you need the item. Please submit your request three weeks before the item is required to allow for processing times. All other information should be automatically filled.
  5. Click Next
  6. Check your email address is correct to be notified when the item is available.
  7. Click Submit.
