"I’m originally from a small town in South-East Queensland and the thought of moving to a big city like Brisbane was very daunting straight out of school. JCU has a great reputation for focusing on rural, remote and indigenous health. I feel that indigenous health is one of the largest issues currently facing Australia and JCU offers the opportunity to better understand why these issues exist and what is being done to rectify them. The smaller class size means lecturers and tutors get to know you as a person rather than just a name on a piece of paper, and you get to know them well too. This not only makes it easier to ask for help if you need it, but the lecturers have experience across a range of areas in pharmacy and will happily share their knowledge with students so that you can understand what employment opportunities exist for pharmacists across different sectors. I chose to study pharmacy because I love learning about the complexity of how the human body functions, and the fact that medications can alter the way the body works despite this complexity is something that I find really interesting."
"Having a university in a regional area close to home, small class sizes compared to larger universities. Pharmacy is a clean job with good hours and pay is ok."

"My decision to do pharmacy at JCU was based on the fact that the curriculum was integrated and I felt that this would give me an edge and better understanding of the topics then at any other university.
1. I never doubted the decision to study pharmacy as it was a passion I have always had and wanted to do. When I lost motivation I always remember why I started this degree and where I hoped to be after I was done."
"I decided on pharmacy at James Cook University as it afforded me multiple opportunities, such as having smaller class sizes, one-on-one contact with lecturers, and the chance to learn at a university known for its forward thinking."

"I decided to do Pharmacy at JCU because of the strong rural and tropical focus. Having lived in rural parts of Queensland all my life, I realised the importance of having health practitioners in these areas. I have to admit – having lived in regional towns I was a bit daunted to go to the ‘big smoke’ of Brisbane, and Townsville (although larger) seemed less scary."
"I decided to study pharmacy at JCU mostly so that I could stay close to home."
