Format

Author A (Day Month Year) ‘Title of article: subtitle of article’, Name of Newspaper, accessed Day Month Year. URL

Example

Miller ME (27 October 2021) 'Australia is fighting fire with fire, but running out of time', The Washington Post, accessed 28 October 2021. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2021/10/27/australia-climate-change-fires/

Note:

  • Hyperlink the URL at the end of the reference after the full stop.
  • Use full date (Day Month Year) for newspaper articles.

For EndNote users:

EndNote Reference Type Newspaper article.
Field notes
  • Enter the day and month you accessed the site in the Access Date field.

Newspaper articles with no author

Format

Name of Newspaper (Day Month Year) ‘Title of article: subtitle of article’, Name of Newspaper, accessed Day Month Year. URL

Example

Note: 

  • If an article doesn't list an author, use the name of the newspaper in the author position.
  • Hyperlink the URL at the end of the reference after the full stop.

Field notes
  • Enter the name of the newspaper in the Author field as well as the Newspaper field.
  • Enter the day and month you accessed the site in the Access Date field.
