Changing status of Missing items

Changing status of Missing items

Purpose

  • How to change the status on an item from the item screen or from the request screen

ALMA Roles

  • Circulation Desk Operator
  • Physical Inventory Operator

Responsibility

  • All frontline staff

Missing status from the Item screen:

  • Open ALMA
  • Location should be [Your campus]- Circulation desk
  • Search for item in the search bar at the top of the screen

  • Once you have found your item click on Physical and Items
  • Item must have status “Item in place” before status can be changed to “Missing” (if the item has a status of in transit you will not be able to change it to Missing)

  • This will bring up the item screen. Click the ellipsis 

  • From the list select Toggle Missing Status

  • The status of Missing will have now been applied to the items

Missing status from the Request screen:

Only use this procedure if there is only one item on a record, as it will mark all items on that record Missing. If the item is the last item on the record you will also need to advise the patron see: Contacting Clients when their requests are no longer available

  • Open ALMA
  • Location should be [Your campus]- Circulation desk
  • Go to Fulfillment → Resource Request →  Pick from Shelf
  • Find the item that you are missing

  • Click Mark as Missing
  • You will get a pop up asking you to confirm. Select Confirm.

  • The item will be marked as missing
