Definition (formal)

Referencing is a way of acknowledging the sources of your information and ideas. There are some standard styles and formats for referencing in academic writing (e.g., APA or MLA).

Example

For example, the Persuasive Essay Example uses APA style for all citations and references.

Citation Style

This position complements Weinberg’s (1989) claim that ‘genes do not fix behaviour . . . they establish a range of possible reactions to the range of possible experiences that the environment can provide’ (p. 101).
