Editing describes the process of revisiting writing in order to identify and rectify errors and omissions.
Editing: Did you see what's wrong and fix it up?
For example, the sentences below demonstrate the importance of editing to find and rectify simple typographical errors.
Before editing:
The debate is partiucularly significant in the context of intelligence as measured by the the intelligence quotient (IQ).
After editing:
The debate is particularly significant in the context of intelligence as measured by the intelligence quotient (IQ).
